About the Theodosis Violin Studio
Tamara Theodosis has been teaching violin students ages 4 and older, beginners to advanced levels since 1998. She has had a private violin studio since 2003 in Portland. Before coming to Portland, Tamara taught at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, Wyoming Fine Arts Center, University of Connecticut Community School of the Arts, and the University of Oregon Suzuki Strings Program.
Tamara is a seasoned clinician and adjudicator. She has taught masterclasses, workshops, and at Suzuki institutes throughout the US. Tamara has also been an adjudicator at regional and state music competitions. Her students have won concerto competitions as well as placing in local music competitions. Tamara's students have been section leaders in youth symphonies and have gone on to major in violin performance at major universities and music conservatories.
With the belief that a teacher should always be learning, she has taken long-term Suzuki Violin Teacher Training in Books 1 - 10 twice with Teri Einfeldt and Martha Shackford, and had two years of violin pedagogy with Shelley Rich and Dr. Won-Bin Yim. She took short-term training with Ed Sprunger, Louise Scott, Judy Bossuat and Cathryn Lee.
Tamara Theodosis received her Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Oregon and her Masters of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She also did graduate work in violin performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at The Hartt School. Tamara’s principal violin teachers were Kathryn Lucktenberg, Won-Bin Yim, and Katie Lansdale.
A seasoned performer, Tamara has been a member of orchestras in Cincinnati, Connecticut, and Portland, Bermuda, and also was a participant in the Aspen Music Festival and the Opera Theater of Lucca. She is active in the Suzuki community and was President of the Oregon Suzuki Association, which she co-founded.
Tamara is also a Suzuki cello mom and currently resides in the southern suburb of Portland in Wilsonville with her family and their beloved Australian Labradoodles.
